"The Useractive approach -- lessons coupled with a live 'test' environment to do the labs -- really works. It is the best learning approach, as you allow students to put the information to immediate use. This method reinforces learning, and is much more effective than lecture-based classes or online 'slideshows' that do not provide a hands on approach."    -- unsolicited email

.NET Certificate Series Description

Are you interested in learning .NET Programming skills? You can earn a University of Illinois Office of Continuing Education .NET Programming Certificate, and you will learn .NET programming by building .NET applications -- all online and provided by Useractive.

This course series is targeted at both beginning and intermediate programmers who want to acquire .NET programming skills, and to back those skills up with a Certificate from the University of Illinois Office of Continuing Education. The University of Illinois is one of the most respected universities in the world.

The .NET Certificate series is comprised of three courses that prepare you in the foundations you will need to do .NET programming. The courses are:
  • Learn XML a basic introduction to XML, XSL, XSLT, and DTDs. On completetion of this course students should be able to build XML documents and transform them into multiple document types using XSL.

  • Learn Object Oriented Programming using Java This is a great introduction to Object Oriented Programming concepts and techniques. We have students build Java Applets using Useractive's online CodeRunner editor. We use Java in this case as a pedagogical tool for learning Object Oriented Programming. Once completed, students will easily transition to C#, an Object-Oriented Programming language which is similar to Java.

  • Learn C# In this course students have access to a full version of Visual Studio .NET as well as the backend framework tools such as an Access Database, IIS web server, frontpage extensions, etc. Students are guided step-by-step through the process of building .NET Applications.

Completion of the 3-course series earns students a Certificate of .NET Programming from the University of Illinois Office of Continuing Education. All courses are certified by the University of Illinois, and students receive Continuing Education Units upon completion of each course in the series.
